Clear Thursday with AC/DC tonight — and transit hiccups to know

Morning. It's a clean day coming — mainly clear, 16°C, and you've got till 8:33 PM to move around. UV's sitting at 6 (high), so if you're outside for lunch or heading to the seawall, sunscreen's worth the two seconds. Good daylight for it.

Transit's got a couple of things to know. If you're heading out on the R4 this morning headed to UBC from Joyce Station, the 7:21 and 9:04 trips from Bay 4 are cancelled today — operational issue. And if you rely on real-time NextBus or SMS for schedules, those systems are down intermittently right now; you're mostly getting scheduled times only while they work through it. Not ideal, but good to know before you head out.

Eastern routes — 191 and 187 out of Coquitlam — are running nightly detours till the end of September, 8 PM to 5 AM on weekdays. Both are routing through Barnet Highway and Pinetree Way due to construction. If you're commuting that way after dark, budget a bit of extra time.

Worth paying attention to: North Vancouver's got an ongoing fight over a chlorine plant that council voted to keep running — a resident's taken it to court to overturn that decision. And there's been some movement on the reconciliation front — new polling suggests B.C. residents are getting more cautious about it following a Cowichan court ruling. These are the conversations happening in the region right now.

If you're thinking food, there's a new Thai spot called Hen doing a soft open on West Broadway this week — chicken rice specialist, if that's your lane. And if you want something different, Cantina Social Club just brought Mexico City nightlife energy to downtown, operating out of the Pinche Taco Shop space. Worth a look.

Tonight's got options. AC/DC's Power Up tour is rolling into BC Place at 7 PM — if you're into it, that's the main event. The Pretty Reckless are on the bill too. There's also Paris Jackson at the Biltmore Cabaret at 7, and the Canadians are hosting Tri-City out at Scotiabank Field, first pitch 7:05 PM — that one wraps early if you want a full evening after. And if you head downtown, the AC/DC pop-up at the Commodore is going 11 AM if you want to catch that before work.

With clear skies and decent length to the day, it's a Thursday that feels like it wants you to get outside. Whatever you're doing tonight, you've got room to move.

Cheers.
