Wednesday warmth, transit hiccups, and a soccer night in the works

Morning. It's 15°C out there and partly cloudy, which means you can ditch the rain jacket today but keep the sunscreen handy — UV's running at 7, which is high enough that you'll burn if you're not paying attention. You've got a solid 14 hours of daylight, with sunset at 8:22 PM, so evening plans won't feel rushed.

A couple of transit heads-up before you head out. The West Coast Express train that left Mission City westbound this morning is running about 20 minutes late thanks to a track issue, so if you're catching that into Port Haney, give yourself some buffer. Over on the 745 bus, both the Cottonwood and Haney Place runs are detouring around roadblocks starting at 5:30 AM — they'll loop via Creekside and Kanaka before getting back on route. And if you usually hop on at Oakridge-41st Ave Station, Bay 5 is temporarily moved to Bay 4 for the next couple of days (Thursday and Friday, 7 AM to 6 PM) while they're doing construction.

On the wider front, B.C. businesses are bracing hard as a midnight U.S. tariff deadline looms at 50 per cent — it's shaping up to be a rough week for the economy. Worth keeping an eye on if your work or spending touches the border. On a lighter note, some solid food things are happening: there's a Spanish food crawl hitting various spots across the city celebrating regional tapas and paella, and this Saturday, Vancouver chefs are clearing their kitchens for Les Dames d'Escoffier's culinary garage sale if you're into snagging kitchen gear or finding a new favourite spot.

Tonight's got some decent options. Ali Wong is bringing the laughs at the QE Theatre at 7 PM if comedy's your speed, and if you're more of a soccer person, the Whitecaps are home at BC Place at 7:30 PM against Houston Dynamo. The Junior Pan Pacs swimming finals are also running at UBC Aquatic Centre at 5 PM if you're keen on diving. Weather-wise, it'll stay clear enough for outdoor plans, so pick your vibe.

Cheers, and have a good one.
