Wednesday's your day to get outside—but watch the bus routes around Joyce Station first.

Clear skies, transit detours, and Nelly tonight

Morning looks good. Sixteen degrees, mainly clear skies, and you've got nearly fourteen hours of daylight to work with—sunset's at 8:08 PM, so the evening's got room to breathe. UV's sitting at 6, which is high, so if you're heading out at lunch or catching Nelly tonight, throw the sunscreen on.

One thing before you head out: transit's got some detours running this morning around Joyce Station and the 41st Ave corridor due to a motor vehicle accident. If you usually take the R4 or the 41 bus, give yourself a few extra minutes—they're routing around Knight, Kingsway, Victoria, King Edward depending on which direction you're headed. The detours kicked in around 5:20 AM, so check the transit app if you're commuting through that area.

On the wider front, air quality's taken a hit across the Valley as wildfire smoke pushes in from the interior. If you're heading out to Surrey or Langley, the air's ranking as unhealthy right now—worse than it should be mid-summer. Mask up if you're sensitive, keep the windows closed in the car, and maybe save the Grind for a clearer day.

Food-wise, if you're thinking about lunch or dinner, there's some good energy around town. Ali Wong stopped by Chinatown BBQ and gave it her thumbs-up if you want a solid spot in the neighbourhood. There's also a new Peruvian roasted-chicken delivery concept called Rico Chicken if you want something different, and Spud Shack just opened a second location out in Surrey for when the poutine cravings hit.

Tonight's got three solid open-air options depending on your mood. If you want soccer, Whitecaps FC 2 are hosting LAFC2 at Swangard Stadium at 6:00 PM. If you're after something louder and more energetic, Nelly's playing Freedom Mobile Arch at 8:30 PM—it's a warm evening, so the rooftop vibe should be proper. Either way, you've got time between now and then to get sorted.

Get outside today while it's clear. See you out there.
