Friday's got live music and a long daylight stretch.

Morning. It's Friday and the weekend's already knocking. Weather's mild — 13 degrees, no rain in sight, and you've got just over 13 hours of daylight to work with. UV's at 5, so if you're heading outside for lunch or catching tonight's shows, sunscreen's still worth it.

If you're taking transit this morning, West Coast Express has a couple of signal delays out of Mission City — Train 1's running 14 minutes late leaving Port Haney, and Train 2's about 5 minutes down. Nothing crazy, but worth factoring in if you're heading west early. On the SkyTrain side, the down escalator at Brentwood Town Centre on the Millennium Line is out, and the up escalator at New Westminster on the Expo Line is down too — stairs are your friend today.

In the news — six BC Conservative MLAs have walked from Kerry-Lynne Findlay's caucus since she took over, which tells you something's unsettled there. On a different front, there's a new report flagging that young people between 15 and 29 aren't getting real access to the sexual health services they need. That one's worth thinking about beyond the headline.

Safeway's big flagship store is back at Oakridge Park after six years away — 50,000 square feet of the whole deal. If you've been missing that anchor, it's coming back.

Food-wise, there's some decent momentum right now. Duchess Cafe's opening September 3rd on Adanac with a no-tipping model — backed by a BC cocktail brand, so worth keeping an eye on. Ali Wong stopped by Chinatown BBQ and left with a solid endorsement if you're looking for lunch. There's also Rico Chicken, a new Peruvian roasted-chicken delivery concept from chef Ricardo Valverde if you want something different for dinner. And if you're in the mood for poutine, Spud Shack — the Metro Vancouver heavyweight — just opened a second spot in Surrey.

Tonight's the real draw. Noah Kahan's at BC Place at 6:30 with Gigi Perez opening — if folk-pop's your lane, that's a solid Friday night. There's also the Great Outdoors Comedy Festival kicking off at Stanley Park at 7 PM (18+ only), and a few other live events scattered around if you want to pick your vibe. You've got time before sunset, so outdoor concerts or a walk will feel good.

Weekend's shaping up nice too — Guns N' Roses is Saturday, and the comedy festival runs all three days if you're into that.
