Monday start: clear skies, transit shifts, and live music tonight

Morning's looking sharp — 12°C and mainly clear, which means you can skip the rain jacket for once. Sun sets at 7:58 PM, so you've got a solid 13.5 hours of daylight. UV's running at 5 (moderate-to-high), so if you're heading outside, the usual precautions apply.

A few transit tweaks to clock before you head out. The 791 from Braid Station is leaving five minutes later now — 5:40 AM instead of 5:35 AM, starting today. If you're on the 102 Victoria Hill, there's a detour this morning via Royal Ave, McBride, Memorial, and Ross — back to normal route after that. Come tomorrow morning the 68 Wesbrook Village shifts its route between 7 AM and 5 PM (NW Marine to Stadium to West Mall to Thunderbird and back). And if you're catching the 257 heading toward the Highway 1 interchange, heads up: it's detouring tonight from 9:30 PM through 6 AM tomorrow morning.

On the ground, North Van had a rough one — a house fire on East Osborne Road over the weekend took out one home and damaged a second. Worth knowing if you're in that area.

If you haven't sorted back-to-school vaccinations yet, B.C.'s got a push running now. Measles transmission's been reported here, and U.S. cases are climbing, so if you've got kids or are thinking about it, worth a call to your clinic.

Food-wise: Sushi Aboard's closing its West End spot on Denman after six years, so if you've got a last order in mind, clock that. If you're feeling fancy, Rob Feenie's got a new burger at Le Crocodile — Wagyu with port jus and foie gras, the whole deal. Dames Dine Around's back this September with seats still open at some of Van's top spots if you want to lock something in. And Duchess Cafe opens September 3 on Adanac with a no-tipping model and a B.C. cocktail brand in the mix — could be worth a look.

Evening's got options if you're awake and wired. Fortune Sound Club's running Midnight Mondays End Of Summer Smash at 10 PM (White Claw's backing it), and The Clash is on at 10:30 PM if you want to catch live music. Low-key Monday energy otherwise — a walk through Stanley Park before dark is always solid, or call it early and sleep in a bit.

Cheers, and watch for those transit changes.
