Clear skies, transit hiccups, and baseball tonight

Morning's looking bright. We're at 13 and clear, UV sitting at 5 (moderate), so you won't need much more than a light layer if you're heading out. Sun doesn't drop until 7:41 tonight, so you've got solid daylight to work with.

Couple of transit notes before you head out. If you catch the 17 Oak westbound on Robson at Hamilton, the 6:54 and 8:35 trips are cancelled today—operational issue. Same deal with the 17 Downtown from Marine Drive: skip the 6:20 and 7:50 if that's your line. Nothing major, but worth knowing if either's part of your usual commute. Also flagging that the up escalator at Moody Centre (Millennium Line, street to mezzanine) is down for maintenance starting this morning at 9 AM through tomorrow at 3 PM—not a dealbreaker, but stairs it is if you're heading through there.

Few things worth knowing on the larger front. Canada's already running 2 degrees warmer than pre-industrial levels, and older adults are getting hit hardest by the heat when it arrives—worth checking in on anyone you know who's getting up there. Locally, a long-serving VPD member's been charged with fraud and theft totalling $3 million, and Surrey's dealing with a serious police-involved crash that's left a pedestrian with life-threatening injuries. The province is also expanding supports for people in abusive relationships following the Stanton Review, which matters for anyone you know caught in that situation.

If you're thinking lunch or dinner, Miku's still the play for window-side sushi if you want to treat yourself (kaiseki menu's $150 and it's the best view in the city for it).
