Over in King George territory, stop 55450 southbound at 80 Ave is closed nightly 7 PM to 7 AM for construction through tonight.

And Grouse Mountain's holding a celebration of life today for Grinder, the beloved grizzly who lived on the mountain for 25 years — a real local icon gone. Also catching attention: the Vancouver Police Training Academy just opened in the Woodward's building with the first 40-officer class already settled in.

If you're hunting dinner, Chef Steven Che just opened Haisan on the Drive — 30 seats, Chinese Pacific Northwest cooking, the kind of spot that's worth a walk. And if croissants are calling your name, the Vancouver Croissant Crawl is back with 38 limited creations through October 4 — perfect weekend project. Paella's still the move at Casa Molina (Javier Blanc and the Paella Guys know what they're doing), and if you want to treat yourself to something really fine, Miku's kaiseki menu runs $150 with a window view that's hard to beat.
