Monday morning: transit's back, commute's clear, and the Drive's got new heat
Canada Line's running again. Weather's mild. Tonight's got live music if you're keen.
Alright, Monday. Good news first — that Canada Line stall from earlier this morning is cleared out, so regular service is back. If you're heading out on the 791 (Braid or Haney Place side), keep in mind those detours are still running through the week, but you've got your routes mapped already. Down in Langley, the 595's got a road block through midnight today, so if that's your line, plan an extra 10–15 minutes.
14°C and mostly cloudy this morning — throw on a layer that works both ways. UV's sitting at 5, so if you're outside for lunch, sunscreen's worth it. Sun's down at 7:28, so you've got a solid evening if plans land after work.
On the local front: B.C. just loosened the sourcing rules for food processing on lower-grade farmland, which'll affect how some of the region's producers operate. Not a headline-grabber unless you're in the food game, but it's the kind of slow shift that trickles through. Also worth knowing — the province is opening up $15 million in wildfire resilience funding for next year; if you're outside the city limits or thinking ahead, intake starts October 1.
Food-wise, there's real momentum building. To Live For Bakery dropped a second vegan kiosk inside the Vancity building by the seawall, so if you're on that side of town and want something solid for lunch, that's an easy grab. Ramen Danbo's coming to UBC and Yaletown this fall — both expansions worth watching. And if you're on the Drive and fancy something new, Chef Steven Che just opened Haisan, a 30-seat spot doing Chinese Pacific Northwest. The Vancouver Croissant Crawl is back too, running through October 4 with 38 limited creations across the city — proper reason to take a walk this week.
If you're feeling social tonight, Ben Bankas is doing comedy at Yuk Yuks at 7, or Seedhe Maut's got a hip-hop set at the Commodore (19+, also 7). Fortune Sound Club's running a Latin Takeover at 10 if you want to stretch it late. Pick your vibe — low-key laugh or dance it out — but nothing's weather-dependent today.
Cheers, and safe commute.
