Monday fog, escalator shuffles, and a solid night out.

Morning's sitting at 12°C with fog rolling in — layer up, but you won't need much. Sun sets at 7:13 tonight, so if you're planning to grab a park this afternoon before work eats the week, you've got a solid window. UV's at 5, which means the sun's punching through that fog more than you'd think — nothing crazy, but worth noting if you're outside for a spell.

Couple of transit escalators are down today, so a heads-up if you're Millennium or Expo Line regular. The down escalator at Commercial-Broadway (platform 3 & 4 side) is out, and the up escalator at Nanaimo Station on the Expo Line's offline too. Same story at Commercial-Broadway on the Expo side — up escalator's taking a break. Moody Centre's got a down escalator out as well. Nothing that'll kill your commute, but worth knowing if you're counting on them — stairs are your friend this morning.

Few things worth clocking: HMCS Yukon, North Vancouver's last destroyer, got sunk as an artificial reef down in San Diego — a piece of local history underwater now. Closer to home, there's a death investigation underway after an RV fire in Surrey over the weekend; arson team's looking into it. And Surrey MLA Linda Hepner's stepped out of the B.C. Conservative caucus — worth following if local politics matter to your world.

If you're thinking lunch, Mandy's Gourmet Salads is opening its first Vancouver spot in Kits this week — solid if you're after something quick and clean. Noah's Cafe over in the West End's doing omakase for a hundred bucks if you want to lean into something more — nine to twelve courses, which is a proper sit-down move. Chez Céline's Rotisserie Québécoise isn't back until October 13, so scratch that craving for now, but it's coming.

Tonite's your move if you want to shake off the Monday weight. Old Mervs is playing Hollywood Theatre at 7 — easy weeknight gig, indoors (the fog's not heavy enough to worry about), and done before it gets too late. Worth it if you need to reset before the week proper kicks in.
