Saturday's mostly clear—get outside before dark hits early.
Mild, low-key day perfect for brunch, live music, or catching a match at BC Place.
It's a soft Saturday morning—13°C, mostly cloudy, and you've got until 6:47 PM before the light goes. That's just under 11.5 hours of daylight, so if you're planning an evening walk or an outdoor bite, clock it. UV's at 4, so nothing heavy, but you'll want a layer if you're heading out for the day.
A couple of transit heads-up if you're moving around: the 50238 southbound Main St stop near Broadway is still shifted south of E 10 Ave through tomorrow (construction wrapping). Over in New West, the 103 and 112 lines are running detours all weekend—if you're heading that way, give yourself a few extra minutes.
On the news side, police are looking for two witnesses in connection with the CRAB Park homicide, and there's been a serious wrong-way crash on the highway in West Van. Not great, but worth knowing.
If you're thinking food, a few spots are worth your attention. There's a new West End Butcher on Davie doing Montreal-style house-cured meats if you're in the mood for something richly done. Bento Cafe just opened a second spot in Kerrisdale with Japanese teishoku sets—solid lunch move if you're over that way. Torafuku keeps doing what it does best down on Main, pan-Asian with natural wine, and crowds keep showing up. If you want something quick and cheap, the Chinese breakfast crepes around Vancity are still holding at $7 and honestly worth the trip.
For tonight, you've got real options. Default's playing the Commodore at 7:00 PM if you want rock. LØLØ's at The Pearl at 6:00 PM, Ethan Regan's at Rickshaw Theatre at 7:00, and there's also LOLO (19+) at The Pearl at 7:00 if you're leaning live. If you want to stay indoors and catch something different, the Canada Super60 cricket festival kicks off at BC Place at 1:30 PM with four matches and a concert featuring Armaan & Arnaaz Gill—that's a proper daytime hangout. & Juliet's touring through the Queen Elizabeth Theatre at 2:00 PM if Broadway's your speed, and the VSO's running the Harry Potter concert series too if you want orchestral magic.
Sunset's 6:47, so if you're planning something outside after work, you're cutting it close—move early or plan for the dark.
Get out there. It's a decent day.
