Tuesday fog, transit hiccups, and five shows tonight

Morning's grey and damp—11°C, fog sitting thick, so you might want layers for that commute. UV's low at 3.0, so sunscreen isn't top priority today. Sun's down at 6:41 PM, so plan accordingly if you're heading out after work.

Transit's got some hiccups today. If you're heading out to Coquitlam or the Tri-Cities, watch it: the 187 Parkway has four morning trips cancelled from Coquitlam Central (6:03, 6:46, 7:27, and 8:15 am). The 183 between Coquitlam Central and Moody Centre has two trips down each way—7:17 and 8:42 am northbound, 6:37 and 7:59 am southbound. And the 743 Haney Place route is missing two morning runs from Eastbound Mall Access (7:05 and 8:30 am). All operational issues. If those are your lines, build in time or have a backup plan.

Few things worth keeping an eye on around Van this week: police are still searching for 87-year-old Tina Lam, who's been missing since Monday afternoon. If you spot anything, get it to them. The trial's underway in the Tori Dunn case down in Surrey—her partner's testifying about the stabbing. And Surrey council's wrapping up a tribute to staff at their final meeting before the new council takes over November 2.

If you're thinking lunch or dinner, Burdy's chicken parm sandwich bus opened a full restaurant on Granville Island—worth hitting if you've been meaning to try it. Bento Cafe opened a second spot in Kerrisdale with Japanese teishoku sets, and if you're into cured meats, West End Butcher just launched on Davie with Montreal-style house cures. Heads up too: Wildlight Kitchen + Bar in West Point Grey is closing after more than three years.

Tontonight's got serious energy. Sting's at Queen Elizabeth Theatre at 8:00 PM if you want to catch the STING 3.0 tour. If metal's your thing, Cradle of Filth's at the Vogue at 7:00 PM with Moonspell and others, or Nekrogoblikon over at Rickshaw at 7:00 PM. Indie folk fans should check Chad VanGaalen at The WISE Hall at 7:30 PM. Five live shows on a Tuesday—pick your poison. Hockey's also happening: Brandon Wheat Kings vs. Vancouver Giants out at Langley Events Centre at 7:00 PM if that's more your speed.

Indoors for most of it, which works with the fog.
