Friday's here—14 and clear, live music all night.
Your weekend's already started. Here's what you need before you head out.
It's 14°C and partly cloudy this morning, which means you can ditch the heavy layer and still be comfortable. UV's at 3, so you're not going to burn, but if you're outside for a few hours the sun'll find you. Sunset's at 6:35, so plan your evening plans accordingly—dark comes early this time of year.
If you're taking transit today, heads up: the 129 and 133 routes have detours running from 6 AM due to a road block. The 129's jumping from Patterson Station to Holdom Ave & Sumas Street, and the 133's taking a longer loop via Sprott and Kensington before it gets to Holdom. Not huge delays if you know what's coming, but factor in an extra few minutes. Also, escalators are down at Sperling-Burnaby Lake (up side) and Inlet Centre (down side) on the Millennium Line if you're heading that way.
AnnaLena just became Vancity's first two-Michelin-star restaurant—if you've been meaning to get in there, now's the time to make your move. On the lighter side, Burdy's opened a new spot on Granville Island with their famous chicken parm sandwich, so that's worth a lunch run if you're island-bound this weekend. A heads-up though: Bayside Lounge in the West End is closing at month's end after 47 years, so if you've got a drink to pay respect to a fixture, get there soon.
Tonight's got real options. The Coastal Tsunami are playing Ridge Meadows Flames at 7 PM out at Planet Ice if you're into junior hockey. On the music side, there's rock at the Rickshaw (ACTORS at 7), classical at the Hollywood (Maro at 6), and Inspector Cluzo bringing the cabaret energy at Fox Cabaret at 7. Pick your vibe and get out—it's been a long week.
This weekend's shaping up solid. Game days are running, there's a full concert slate, and the Undertale symphony's dropping Saturday if you're into that kind of thing. Long weekend energy's already in the air.
Stay dry out there, and enjoy your Friday.
