Saturday's crisp—get out, catch live music, watch the Raptors.

It's a cold one out there. Rain's held off; plenty to do before dark at 6:33.

Saturday's crisp—get out, catch live music, watch the Raptors.

Pull on a layer. Eight degrees this morning—a proper dip from the week before—and mostly cloudy, so you're not getting much warmth from the sun. UV's moderate at 3.0, so no drama there. The good news: no rain in the forecast, which means the seawall, Granville Island, or anywhere else outside is fair game if you're keen to move around.

Transit's running clean today. The 133 detour at Holdom cleared overnight, so you're back to regular routes if you're heading that way. Tomorrow's another story—Sunday's got three bus detours running 7 AM to 4 PM (the 363, 362, and 361 out of Southpoint/Seaside/Ocean Park area) due to a special event, so clock that if you're planning to get anywhere south tomorrow morning.

Not much new locally, but worth a note: cruise season just hit a record with 1.4 million passengers coming through—that's your reminder the waterfront's busier than usual if you're heading that way. And if you haven't heard, AnnaLena just became Vancouver's first two-Michelin-star restaurant, which is a pretty big deal. On the flip side, Bayside Lounge in the West End—a West Van institution for 47 years—is closing at month's end, so if you've got a drink to pay your respects, get there soon.

Eating out? If you haven't tried the new Burdy spot on Granville Island yet, their chicken parm sandwich has serious fans, and now there's a brick-and-mortar to sit down in. Good weekend move.

Tonight's properly packed. The Raptors are in town taking on the LA Clippers at Rogers Arena at 3:30 PM—that's your NBA Canada Series moment, and it's the marquee of the day if you're into it. After dark, live music's everywhere: 54-40 at the Commodore is a no-brainer if you want proper Van rock; Militarie Gun and friends at the Rickshaw if you're chasing something heavier; The Zolas doing their Swooner Anniversary Tour at the Pearl if you want to remember what 2015 felt like. Or catch the Undertale orchestra at Queen Elizabeth Theatre at 3 PM if you want something totally different.

Sunset's 6:33, so plan your evening around that—if you're catching an outdoor walk or a game, you've got just over eleven hours of daylight. After that, you're indoors with a drink or a show.

Get out there and do something good with the daylight.
