Tuesday's got music, transit hiccups, and some serious dinner options
Mild day ahead—grab your layers, watch for escalator outages downtown, and pick a concert.
Morning's mild at 11°C and mostly cloudy, so you're good without the heavy jacket. UV's low (2.0), so no sunscreen panic, but the sun dips early at 6:26 PM—plan your evening around that if you're heading out after work.
Couple transit notes worth knowing: Granville Station's got both escalators down on the Expo Line—one between the Compass vending machine level and the Waterfront platform, the other from the platform back up to Dunsmuir. If you're using Coquitlam Central on the Millennium Line, same story with the up escalator to the VCC-Clark platform. Over in Surrey, the 321's been rerouted from 5:30 AM onward—it'll swing through 64 Ave, 134 St, and 68 Ave before getting back on track. Nothing catastrophic, but worth a mental note if you're commuting through any of those spots.
Locally, there's real movement on a few fronts. OneCity's thrown a proposal at Kingsgate Mall to transform it into school, housing, and public space—the kind of thing that could reshape that corner. And if you've been tracking the New Westminster apartment fire that displaced 24 people, there's still uncertainty about what comes next for those residents. Doug McCallum's also making noise about rebuilding Surrey's Cloverdale harness racing track by fall 2027, so that's in motion if you care about that scene.
For dinner, you've got some solid options landing right now. Jeju—Mount Pleasant's first Michelin-recommended Korean spot—is making real noise. If you're feeling fancier, AnnaLena just hit two Michelin stars, which is the first in the city. There's also five new autumn openings worth exploring if you want to branch out. On the other hand, if Bayside Lounge's been your West End regular for years, heads up—it closes at the end of the month after 47 years.
Tonight's got serious music heat. Doja Cat with Latto at Rogers Arena is the main draw (7:30 PM), but if that's not your lane, The Jungle Giants are at Fortune Sound Club at 7, Sammy Rae & The Friends are at the Commodore at 7, and Boy Harsher are at The Pearl at 8. Something for everyone if you're in the mood.
Stay dry if you're out late—nothing heavy forecast, but it's coastal autumn.
