Thursday morning: fog, transit hiccups, and live music tonight.

It's 7°C and foggy out there, so layer up and give yourself a bit of extra time if you're heading anywhere. Sun's down by 6:22 PM, so if you're planning an evening out, it'll be dark by the time you leave work. UV's sitting at 3, so nothing to worry about on that front—just the usual autumn gloom.

Couple of transit things to know this morning. The elevator at King George Station (Expo Line, going down to the Waterfront platform) is out for repairs starting at 5:50 AM, so if you need it, you're looking at the stairs. Over at Waterfront Station, the escalators are down from 5:35 AM due to a power outage—same deal there. Nothing catastrophic, but worth knowing if you're timing your commute tight. Later tonight, the Canada Line's doing track maintenance from 9 PM until close, so if you're heading out to Richmond or catching a late train back, single-track between Bridgeport and Richmond-Brighouse means extra time. Plan ahead. Also, if you catch the E bus on Broadway at St. George, that eastbound stop's closed through tomorrow for construction.

Quick heads-up on voting: if you haven't mailed in your ballot for the Vancouver election, get it to a drop box by Saturday. That's your deadline.

On a lighter note, Baan Lao over in Steveston just took home North America's best restaurant title at the World Culinary Awards, and they're opening two spots on Granville Island. If you've been meaning to check them out, sounds like the whole city's about to notice them too. Meanwhile, Jeju in Mount Pleasant is making waves as the city's first Michelin-recommended Korean restaurant—worth a look if you're hunting for something new this season.

Tonight's got some solid live music if you're feeling it. She Wants Revenge and Rosegarden Funeral Party are both playing at The Pearl, and there's Jarlath Regan at the Vogue if comedy's more your speed. If sports is your thing, the Coastal Tsunami are playing the Richmond Sockeyes at Minoru Arena at 7 PM. Plenty to do once the sun goes down.

Stay dry out there and watch your step on the fog—cheers.
