Saturday's mild and live—pick your scene and go.

It's a proper Saturday morning—mild for mid-October at 13°C, mostly cloudy, and you've got good daylight to work with until the sun drops at 6:19 PM. UV's sitting at 2, so you don't need to go full sunscreen mode, but if you're heading out for the day, a light layer will do the job.

One heads-up on transit: if you're taking the 68 to UBC tonight, there's a detour from 9:30 to 11 PM due to a special event. The regular route shifts via Marine Dr—just means plan an extra few minutes if you're catching something late. Compass card site will be down until around noon for maintenance, but Customer Service is open all day if you need help with your account.

A couple things worth knowing this morning: murder charges have finally been laid in connection with that 2022 Burnaby double homicide of a Coquitlam couple—case that's been hanging for years. On the local front, Vancouver police arrested a woman yesterday in connection with an assault on a 73-year-old senior in Victory Square. And if you're in Surrey, voters are out today picking their mayor and council in what's shaping up as a tight race.

For food, there's some good stuff moving: Le Tigre and Toki Doki are reuniting for one night of Japanese street food at Torafuku on Main Street—if you know those spots, you know it'll be worth the trip. Gastown's got a new player too: The Moon, a martini bar from Felix Maristany with Spanish-Cuban cooking that's already getting buzz. And if you haven't been to Baan Lao yet, word just came down they've taken best restaurant in North America at the World Culinary Awards. That's the kind of place worth a visit.

Tonights got real energy. UBC soccer's on at Thunderbird Stadium at 5:30 PM if you want to catch the Thunderbirds take on UNBC. After dark, live music's running deep across the city: SiM's bringing the Hooman World Tour to The Pearl at 6 PM, Independent Trucks Vancouver Trip is happening at The Pearl at 7, Sawyer Hill's at the Biltmore, and if comedy's your speed, Tom Papa's at the Vogue Theatre at 7 PM (16+). Pick your vibe and get out there—Saturday nights like this don't wait around.

Get out and enjoy the warmth while it's here. See you out there.
