Clear skies, late sunset, and serious music energy tonight
8 degrees and dry—good commute weather. One transit hiccup downtown. Canucks play at seven, live music all over the city after.
Morning's clear and crisp at 8 degrees, which means you can leave the rain jacket at home for once. UV's low, so no sunscreen urgency, but you've got a solid ten and a half hours of daylight to work with—sunset's not till 6:13 PM, so there's real evening left if you want it.
One thing to clock if you're heading through Main Street-Science World Station: the west side elevator from street level down to the platform is out of service today. If you need the platform and usually take that route, give yourself a couple extra minutes or find the stairs.
On the political side, a new poll's got Doerkson ahead of Eby as the premier people say they'd pick—though both the B.C. Conservatives and the other side are getting failing grades from a UBC economist on their fiscal plans. The Conservatives' platform assumes 2.5 per cent growth, which is more than double what most forecasters are calling. Worth knowing what you're looking at.
If you're thinking dinner, Hook Seabar on Denman's closing after nine years, so if you've been meaning to go, time's getting short. On the flip side, the Baan Lao team's opening two new spots on Granville Island this summer. Tonight specifically, Le Tigre and Toki Doki are reuniting for one night of Japanese street food at Torafuku on Main Street, and The Moon—a new martini bar Felix Maristany just opened in Gastown with Spanish-Cuban cooking—is going to be worth checking out if late nights are your thing.
Tonight's got real energy. The Canucks play the Carolina Hurricanes at Rogers Arena at 7 PM, and if that's not your scene, there's live music everywhere: Bruno Mars at BC Place, Finn Wolfhard at the Commodore, Demon Hunter with Bloodlines and Wolves At The Gate at the Rickshaw. Pick your vibe and go—it's the kind of Tuesday night where the city feels properly alive.
Clear skies mean you could actually see what you're doing if you're heading out after work. Cheers, and have a good one.
