Clear skies, Canada Line delays — a Wednesday reset

Morning's clear and crisp — 6°C, no rain, and you'll have solid light until just after 6 PM. UV's low, so no drama there. Good day to be outside if your schedule allows it.

If you're heading downtown or to the airport on the Canada Line, there's a stalled train causing delays right now. Check in before you head out — Expo and Millennium are running normal, so you've got options if you need to pivot. The 31 bus also has a couple of morning cancellations between Metrotown and River District, so worth a heads-up if that's your line. And if you bike to Joyce-Collingwood, the parkade's still down for security upgrades until the 22nd.

On the local radar: a Surrey kid's leukemia trial is showing real promise as new cancer research launches — that kind of story worth reading into. Both the NDP and Conservatives are duking it out over campaign talk and SkyTrain promises to Newton, which actually aligns with the new Surrey mayor's push, so there's some real momentum there if infrastructure's on your mind.

Hook Seabar on Denman is closing after nine solid years, if you've got a last-supper plan in you. On the other end, Baan Lao's team is opening two new spots on Granville Island this summer — worth watching. Le Tigre and Toki Doki are doing a one-off Japanese street food night at Torafuku on Main Street, and if martinis and Spanish-Cuban food sound good, Felix Maristany's opened The Moon in Gastown.

Tonight's got some real options if you're looking to get out. Bruno Mars is at BC Place at 7, which is the kind of show that'll move. If live music's your thing, Paul Cauthen's at the Commodore at the same time. Smaller vibe? Flower Face is at the Fox Cabaret. There's also comedy floating around if you want laughs instead.

It's a solid Wednesday — clear, dry, a few transit wobbles, but nothing that'll derail your day. Sunset's at 6:11, so plan evening plans with that in mind. Cheers.
