Thursday rain, transit quirks, and Canucks hockey tonight.

Morning's a soft 9°C and wet—bring layers and don't expect the rain to quit. You've got about ten and a half hours of daylight, so sunset's at 6:09 PM if you're planning an evening out. UV's low, so that's one less thing.

A couple of SkyTrain escalator outages to know about: the up escalator from the 8th Street platform at New Westminster Station is down, and same story with the Waterfront-bound side at Granville by the Dunsmuir entrance. Nothing that'll wreck your day, but head for the stairs if you're in a rush. The 100 Marpole is also rerouting from 7 AM to 7 PM due to construction—it'll swing down Hudson instead of its regular stretch, so give yourself a few extra minutes if that's your bus. And if you're catching the 180 from Moody Centre, the 7:00 and 8:20 trips to Lougheed are cancelled today.

On the news front, there's been a skunk in the West End that tested positive for rabies after biting people. If you've had any contact with wildlife lately, worth getting checked out. And while the city voted pretty decisively last week on drug policy—68% yes on new treatment beds—there's some question whether the new council will actually run with it. The provincial candidates aren't saying much about flood and fire prevention either, which is worth watching given how rough the last five years have been.

If you're thinking about dinner, Hook Seabar on Denman is closing after nine years, so if that was on your list, better get in soon. Over on Granville Island, Baan Lao's crew is opening two new spots this summer. For tonight specifically, Le Tigre and Toki Doki are doing a one-off Japanese street food thing at Main Street's Torafuku, and there's a new Spanish-Cuban martini bar called The Moon just opened in Gastown if you want to keep it simple.

Canucks are home tonight at Rogers Arena—Detroit's in town, puck drops at 7:00 PM. If that's not your scene, Violet Grohl's at the Hollywood Theatre at the same time, and there's electronic and live music scattered around if you're after something else. The WISE Hall's got shows at 7:45 and Village Studios at 8:00.

Get out tonight if you can. Rain or not, it's a good one to do something.
