Carly Rae Jepsen has given a major shoutout to Trees Organic Coffee, the Vancouver café chain where she worked before becoming a chart-topping musician.

Appearing as a guest on the Las Culturistas podcast hosted by Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang, Jepsen shared details of her early career at the café. She started as a barista and moved into the pastry kitchen after an unusual turn of events. "I was a barista until the pastry chef ran off with an internet lover, and then I became the pastry chef," she told the hosts. "I made Vancouver's number one best cheesecake."

When Yang asked about the cheesecake's ingredients, Jepsen kept it simple: "A lot of cream cheese." Rogers responded with enthusiasm, saying "And I bet they were perfect and delicious."

Jepsen was recommending Vancouver restaurants to Rogers, who will be in the city in December for his tour This Time It's Really Christmas. Along with Trees Organic Coffee, she recommended Aphrodite's Organic Pie Shop, while Yang highlighted Lunch Lady as another local favourite.
