The Netflix film "Remarkably Bright Creatures," starring Oscar winner Sally Field, was filmed in part in Maple Ridge at a beloved local venue.

The film, based on Shelby Van Pelt's bestselling novel of the same title, used The Wolf Bar along Lougheed Highway as a key location. The Wolf Bar, a longtime hangout for late-night live music and casual drinks, provided the setting for a pivotal scene where Cameron, played by Lewis Pullman, shares his music with Tova, played by Field.

Directed by Olivia Newman, the story follows a widow who forms a bond with a giant Pacific octopus and a wayward young man who comes to town in search of family. The novel explores themes of grief, friendship, and connection.

While filming took place in Maple Ridge, the production also shot throughout British Columbia, including Vancouver, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Richmond, and Lions Bay.
