The Canadian men's national soccer team chose local when it came time for a post-match meal during the FIFA World Cup.

VanSuya, a Vancouver spot known for authentic Nigerian cuisine, shared on Instagram that the team ordered from the restaurant. "We've been loving the vibes and energy in Vancouver Downtown this summer because of the World Cup," the restaurant wrote. "So when they wanted to order food from us, we were happy to deliver it to them."

The team enjoyed soups, plantain, pastries, and jollof rice—the restaurant's best-selling dish of rice simmered in a flavourful and spicy tomato stew, served with a choice of chicken, turkey, fish, or beef. VanSuya noted that everyone on the team was nice and friendly.

VanSuya operates two locations: a Surrey outpost at 10767 King George Boulevard and its Vancouver spot at 185 Keefer Street in Chinatown. The restaurant thanked the team for supporting the business and congratulated them on reaching the knockout stage for the first time in men's World Cup history.
