John Cena has named Yaletown's Elisa steakhouse as the only Canadian restaurant in his curated list of 11 favourite restaurants worldwide, published on an Apple Maps guide ahead of his new film Matchbox The Movie.
"A diamond in Vancouver's Yaletown district. The service, location, cuisine, and ambiance of Elisa have provided some of my most unforgettable moments," Cena wrote in the guide. He specifically recommended diners try the beef wellington and "one of my favourite espresso martinis in the world."
Cena has been spotted at Elisa multiple times. The Toptable Group-operated steakhouse sits at 1109 Hamilton St. and has earned recognition as a Michelin-recommended restaurant and a multiple-time winner on lists of the world's best steakhouses.
During his time in Vancouver, Cena has also visited other local establishments including Joe Fortes Seafood & Chop House—which he has called his favourite restaurant in Canada following a 2019 visit—as well as Hawksworth Restaurant, The Belgian Chocolate Cafe, Black + Blue, and Boulevard Kitchen and Oyster Bar.
