Theatre Under the Stars is bringing two beloved Broadway musicals to Stanley Park this summer for its 86th season at Malkin Bowl.

Sister Act and Disney's The Little Mermaid will run on alternate evenings from July 3 to August 22, with performances at 8 p.m., except on special event nights starting at 7 p.m. General Manager Kevin Woo said the season invites audiences on a journey of connection and discovery.

"From the nightclub to the nunnery, Sister Act's Deloris forges a powerful bond with an unlikely sisterhood, unlocking her true potential as an aspiring singer," Woo said. "And from an underwater grotto to a royal palace, Ariel in Disney's The Little Mermaid must learn to trust in the strength of her inner voice to claim the life she has always longed for."

Sister Act is based on the 1992 film starring Whoopi Goldberg. The musical debuted in London's West End in 2009 and on Broadway in 2011. It tells the story of aspiring disco diva Deloris Van Cartier, who goes into witness protection at a nearby convent and helps transform the choir into a sensation.

Disney's The Little Mermaid is the film-turned-musical phenomenon that debuted on Broadway in 2008 and has toured worldwide. The story follows Ariel, a curious young mermaid who dreams of a world above the sea and must break a curse with a true love's kiss.

Tickets are available at various prices through the TUTS website. Malkin Bowl is located at 610 Pipeline Rd., Vancouver.
