Vancouver's July arts calendar is packed with theatre, dance, music, and visual art events across the city.
The Vancouver Comic Arts Festival (VanCAF) runs July 4 to 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Roundhouse Community Centre (181 Roundhouse Mews). Dozens of comic creators will take part, with booths selling unique comics, artwork, collectibles, and more. The panel room will feature presentations and live performances. Admission is free.
Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS) returns to Stanley Park for its 86th season at the Malkin Bowl (610 Pipeline Rd.) from July 3 to August 22, alternating evenings. The season features Sister Act and Disney's The Little Mermaid, with performances at 8 p.m. (7 p.m. on special event nights). Various ticket prices available online.
The Eastside Arts Festival runs July 17 to 26 with arts workshops, live performances, and art activations at various Eastside Arts District studios, breweries, and venues. A full day of activities happens at MacLean Park on July 25 from 3 to 8 p.m., featuring outdoor art-making workshops, food trucks, and a beverage garden with beer, cider, and wine from Strange Fellows Brewing, plus a free outdoor concert stage.
At the Improv Centre (1502 Duranleau St., Granville Island), Blockbuster runs every Thursday at 7:30 p.m., with select weekend matinees. Improvisers bring favourite genres and cinematic tropes to life based on audience suggestions. Various ticket prices available online.
Gateway Theatre (6500 Gilbert Rd., Richmond) hosts True Voices: Pride Storytelling Event on Thursday, July 30 at 7 p.m. — a free community event showcasing LGBTQ2S+ community members sharing personal experiences. Recommended for ages 13 and up; reserve online.
Broadway Across Canada concludes its 27th anniversary season with Clue! from July 28 to August 2, featuring murder and blackmail at Boddy Manor in a whodunit musical production.
