Step Forward Health Society is hosting Move for Mental Health, a community walk on Saturday, June 13 at 10 a.m. at the Red Barn in Tsawwassen. The event is designed to bring the community together to raise awareness and funds to help Delta residents access professional mental health care they might not otherwise be able to afford.
The registered charity, based in Delta, exists to bridge the financial gap between the high cost of mental health care and what people can actually afford. For many in the community, the barrier to getting help isn't willingness—it's cost.
Move for Mental Health is more than a walk; it's a visible collective statement that mental health matters in neighbourhoods, among neighbours, and in community spaces. Whether participants come alone, with friends, or bring the whole family and the dog, participation directly supports someone in Delta who needs help.
This year's event is packed with activities designed to keep things lively from start to finish. Families are encouraged to create a fun team name and show up in style—matching T-shirts, silly hats, or handmade banners all welcome. There will be live music, a scavenger hunt for kids, and prizes for the best costume, best-dressed dog, and most enthusiastic walker. Colourful selfie stations offer photo moments to share and spread the word. A message line allows walkers to pin up a note of gratitude or leave a message of support for someone in the community who may be struggling.
All funds raised go directly to programs supporting access to mental health care for those who would otherwise go without. Registration is available at stepforwardhealth.ca.
