Brenden's Ride returns to Surrey after seven-year pause with motorcycle and classic car fundraiser
The charity ride raised funds for Camp Easter Seals on July 18, with 20 volunteers and 36 motorcycles and cars traveling from Cloverdale to Squamish.

Brenden's Ride returned to Surrey on July 18 after a seven-year pause, raising thousands of dollars to help families afford Camp Easter Seals for children with disabilities.
The event began in 2014 when Brenden Parker, who has cerebral palsy, and his father Baron Parker started the ride to raise funds for Camp Easter Seals in Squamish. Brenden had attended the camp for years and noticed fewer friends returning because families couldn't afford the rising costs. The ride ran for six consecutive years before shutting down in 2020 due to COVID.
This year's edition featured 20 volunteers, roughly 36 motorcycles and classic cars, and participants traveling from Cloverdale to Squamish. The event included breakfast at Rusty's Pub in Cloverdale before the ride and lunch in Squamish, with entertainment and silent auction at Camp Easter Seals.
Head organizer Sarah Parker said the event went smoothly despite morning rain that caused some riders to drop out. "Everything went so smoothly. Everyone was excited to be able to help (Brenden's ride) grow again," she told the Cloverdale Reporter.
The first six rides raised more than $225,000 for local charities. While final numbers for this year aren't yet available, Parker said they safely raised thousands of dollars.
Sadly, Baron passed away in 2025. A memorial ride held by friends, called "Baron's Last Ride," sparked the momentum to restart the event. One of the original organizers, Steve Williams, who brought classic cars into the ride, passed away about two months ago.
Easter Seals wants to evolve next year's ride into a "camp open-house" where campers and their families attend and see the riders arrive. Parker said the group may also create a classic car show next year in memory of Williams.
