The B.C. Conservative Party removed Jordan McIntosh from the Vancouver-Strathcona candidate slate Thursday after social media posts attributed to an anonymous account made statements disputing Holocaust history.
Callista Ryan, NDP candidate for Vancouver-Quilchena, posted screenshots to social media showing posts from an account called DeathNight that stated: "Hitler did not specifically hate Jews, and that 'Lots of Jews died because there were LOTS in Europe, NOT because he hated them specifically.'"
The Conservative Party responded within an hour: "The candidate in Vancouver-Strathcona is no longer a Conservative candidate. If elected, he will not sit in caucus." McIntosh declined to comment when reached by phone.
This is the second candidate removal from the Conservative slate in the current election. On October 8, the party removed Victoria-Beacon Hill candidate Joachim Agou after posts surfaced supporting the driver who drove a vehicle through a pro-Palestine protest in Switzerland in 2025.
The removals come one day after the provincial leaders debate, where Conservative leader Lorne Doerkson highlighted accusations of antisemitism within NDP caucus, citing the 2024 departure of former NDP cabinet minister Selena Robinson. In the same debate, Doerkson said his party would "stand against hate."
The material does not confirm whether McIntosh authored the DeathNight posts.
Did McIntosh operate the DeathNight account, and if so, when were these posts made—before or after joining the Conservative slate?
What vetting process did the Conservative Party conduct before nominating McIntosh, and what changed this week to trigger the removal?
We'll update this story as answers emerge.
