The BC Sports Hall of Fame will reopen to the public on August 1 at BC Place after being closed since May for the FIFA World Cup.
The museum was temporarily evicted to make space for World Cup activations, a move that sparked frustration from curator Jason Beck, who called it "the worst day I've had in 23+ years" working there. Now that the tournament has concluded, the process of moving artifacts back into the museum is underway.
Established in 1966, the hall has inducted 406 individuals and 60 teams over its 60-year history. The museum houses artifacts from the 2010 Winter Olympics, exhibits honouring Terry Fox, and a collection dedicated to B.C.'s Indigenous sporting heritage. The hall has been located at BC Place since 1992.
