Conservative Caroline Elliott running in West Vancouver–Capilano for October provincial election

Former BC Conservative leadership candidate Caroline Elliott will run in West Vancouver–Capilano in the October 24 provincial election, becoming the second of five final leadership contenders to announce her candidacy.

Elliott finished two percentage points behind Kerry-Lynne Findlay in May's leadership race. Findlay, who was elected party leader in May, quit the party last week after Premier David Eby called an early election, saying she would not seek office for the provincial Conservatives.

The West Vancouver–Capilano seat was won by Conservative Lynne Block in the 2024 election. Block is now running in North Vancouver–Seymour, where she faces incumbent New Democrat Susie Chant.

Other Conservative leadership contenders have announced their plans differently. Peter Milobar, a former legislator, is running in Kamloops–Centre. Harman Bhangu, Bruce Banman, Sheldon Clare, and Steve Kooner are all seeking re-election to their current seats. Iain Black appeared with interim leader Lorne Doerkson but has made no announcement yet.

Elsewhere, entrepreneur Yuri Fulmer, who ran for Conservative leadership and had praised Findlay in late August, has not immediately responded to questions about his plans. Fulmer ran in West Vancouver–Sea To Sky in the 2024 election, where Green MLA Jeremy Valeriote won two years ago. The party is now nominating Ayla Dumais in that same riding.

Warren Hamm, the first Conservative leadership candidate to declare his intentions in late 2025, is running for the new OneBC party in Penticton–Summerland under leader Dallas Brodie, a former Conservative MLA. In Surrey South, where Conservative Brent Chapman won in 2024, Chapman is running for OneBC while Conservative Elenore Sturko, leader of CentreBC, and White Rock Mayor Megan Knight are both running for the Conservatives. Sturko said in a statement: "I'm embarrassed by the fact that he has been my MLA, and I plan to remedy that."
