Cruise passenger isolating on Vancouver Island tests positive for Hantavirus
First confirmed case from MV Hondius cruise ship; three others remain under observation
One of four Canadians from the cruise ship MV Hondius who are isolating on Vancouver Island has tested positive for the Andes strain of Hantavirus, according to B.C. provincial health officer Bonnie Henry. The diagnosis marks the first confirmed case linked to the vessel, which had reported multiple suspected exposures. The three other Canadians from the cruise continue to isolate while health officials monitor their conditions and investigate the source of the outbreak.
