A 19-year-old man faces weapons charges after an incident in Vancouver's Granville entertainment district early Wednesday, August 12.
Police say the incident occurred around 1:50 a.m. when the suspect began knocking over tables at a store and then produced a knife. When an employee attempted to intervene, the man allegedly began stabbing the store's sign. The employee contacted police.
Officers located a man matching the suspect's description about two blocks away and took him into custody without incident. A knife was found in the suspect's possession.
Noah Kawerninski, 19, has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
