Expectant mothers at Ridge Meadows Hospital in Maple Ridge need to plan ahead this weekend.
Fraser Health announced a maternity diversion will be in place from Friday, June 5 at 8 a.m. until Monday, June 8 at 8 a.m., due to a gap in obstetrician-gynecologist coverage at the facility.
Pregnant women in labour or with pregnancy concerns are asked to call the maternity unit at 604-463-4111 before going to the hospital, and staff will direct them to the appropriate facility. Those with urgent health concerns should call 911.
This marks at least the 12th maternity diversion at Ridge Meadows since December 2025, each lasting several days. Fraser Health said it's been actively recruiting specialist doctors to alleviate the recurring problem.
