Science World transforms into giant soccer ball ahead of 2026 FIFA World Cup
Iconic geodesic dome gets wrapped in 131 custom hexagon panels shaped like the official Trionda match ball
Last week, rope access technicians began installing temporary banner panels onto Science World's exoskeleton structure as the landmark undergoes a dramatic transformation ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The crews have already completed roughly a third of the wrap-around installation of 131 custom-fabricated hexagon-shaped panels designed to resemble the adidas Trionda — the official FIFA World Cup match soccer ball. Over the coming weeks, the work will continue, turning one of Vancouver's most recognizable landmarks into a tribute to the world's biggest sporting event coming to Canada this summer.
