Synvest Group acquires Accent Inns and Hotel Zed chain for eight B.C. properties

Vancouver-based Synvest Group of Companies has agreed to acquire all eight Accent Inns and Hotel Zed properties across British Columbia, the companies announced Tuesday. The portfolio comprises roughly 800 guest rooms across five Accent Inns locations — including the largest property, Accent Inns Vancouver Airport in Richmond with over 200 rooms — and three Hotel Zed locations, plus the ROAR restaurant at Hotel Zed Tofino.

The acquisition covers Accent Inns properties in Richmond, Burnaby, Victoria, Kelowna, and Kamloops, alongside Hotel Zed locations in Victoria, Kelowna, and Tofino. The purchase price was not disclosed. Ownership transfer is expected to close by end of November 2026.

Mandy Farmer, CEO of Accent Inns and Hotel Zed, said the sale came after a search for an owner who understood the company's culture. "This is an emotional day for me and for our team. I am deeply proud of the company and culture we have built together, and it mattered enormously to me to find a new owner who understood what makes this company special," Farmer said in a statement.

Synvest, an investment and hospitality company founded by Azim Virani, operates about a dozen hotels across Western Canada, including Best Western Premier Chateau Granville in downtown Vancouver. Virani said the company was drawn to Accent Inns and Hotel Zed's people-first approach. "For our family, hospitality has always been about people," Virani said. All existing guest bookings will be honoured, and all eight hotels will continue operating normally under existing management.
