Two people were killed and at least five others wounded during a mass shooting at Toronto's Salsa on St. Clair street festival Saturday evening, July 12.
Toronto police issued a public warning at 8:20 p.m. about an active shooter near St. Clair and Arlington Avenues. Officers secured the scene shortly after 9 p.m., and authorities have cordoned off several blocks of St. Clair Avenue.
Paramedics performed life-saving measures on victims as crowds of spectators fled. Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots followed by screams. Police say a total of seven people were found with gunshot wounds and two were pronounced dead at the scene.
No arrests have been announced, and police have not confirmed how many suspects they are searching for. A large police presence remains in the area as the investigation continues.
