Calgary's restaurant scene has seen significant turnover in the first half of 2026, with 19 notable restaurants and bars closing their doors.

Lina's Trattoria, an Italian restaurant that opened in August 2024, closed after about two years. The team posted: "To our wonderful Calgary community, serving you has been the honour of a lifetime."

Calan Beef Noodle's downtown location, which had been open for nearly six years as Calgary's first hand-pulled noodle restaurant, shuttered on June 28 with no stated reason.

Other closures include Makan Malaysian Cuisine on 10th St. NW (open just over a year), Pablo Cheese Tart (a Japanese bakery that operated since 2021), Auntie's Chinese Burger (known for Jian Bing and Chinese-style burgers), Ramen Taka (open since 2021), and Love Damian at Meat & Bread downtown, which lasted 18 months under chef Kyle Opel.

Bars shuttered include Pimlico Bar on 17th Ave SW, which lasted just a year, and Jin Bar in Bridgeland, which closed May 30.

While openings continue across the city, the closures reflect ongoing challenges in the hospitality sector as the year reaches its halfway point.
