Calgary Lost 5 Restaurants and Bars This Month

Calgary's restaurant landscape shifted in June as five venues either shuttered or announced imminent closures. Some will be replaced; others leave gaps in the city's dining scene.
Lina's Trattoria, the Italian restaurant launched in August 2024 by the team behind Lina's Market on Centre Street, closed this month. The space won't sit empty — ownership transferred to Scarpetta Cucina, another YYC Italian favourite, which will take over at 2220 Centre St. N.
Pixie's Candy Parlour closed its long-running location at The District in Calgary's northeast after a decade. Founder Jackie cited rising rent as the reason. While the plan was to relocate into the front space of the warehouse, construction hurdles prevented the move — for now, the shop exists only online.
Calan Beef Noodle, which opened downtown nearly six years ago as Calgary's first hand-pulled noodle restaurant, served its final service on June 28 at 683 10th St. S.W. The closure came with no stated reason.
Two more venues are closing in the coming months. Ricardo's Hideaway, the rum-focused cocktail bar off 17th Avenue that's been a fixture for a decade, is hosting a summer-long farewell party before closing at summer's end. Expect surprise rum specials, late-night jerk crab and wings, and $10 rum cocktails. Murrieta's, which was originally slated to close in April 2026 after 25 years at 200, 808 – 1st St. S.W., will now stay open until August 1, giving the restaurant an extra reprieve.
