Calgary has no shortage of coffee shops, but finding one open past 10 p.m. when you're deep in a study session or catching up with friends takes strategy. Here are seven spots where you can work late into the night without getting the tables-up-at-closing signal.
Qamaria Yemeni Coffee has two locations and stays open longest: both run until 11:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 1:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday. It's the place if you're genuinely looking to work into the small hours. One location sits at 1441 17th Ave. SW on the Red Mile; the other is at 12024 Sarcee Tr. NW.
Caffe Levant in downtown Calgary, at 550 6th Ave. SW, keeps the lights on until 11 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 9 p.m. Sunday. It's a solid choice if you want a late-night study spot without the marathon hours.
Higher Ground's Kensington location (1126 Kensington Rd. NW) closes at 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 10 p.m. the rest of the week — a neighbourhood favourite with a reliable schedule.
Fenyk Coffee & Social has three locations across the city. All stay open until 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 8 p.m. Sunday. Try the Northland Drive location (110, 5049 Northland Dr. NW), the Canada Olympic Common branch (10 Canada Olympic Common SW), or the southeast spot at 80 Rangeview Gate SE.
Element Cafe on 17th Avenue (331 17th Ave. SW) closes at 10 p.m. daily and pairs study time with seasonal Latte Flights — a reason to take a break and try something new.
And Some Flower Cafe (540 7th Ave. NW) blends coffee culture with a flower shop, staying open until midnight Friday and Saturday, 11 p.m. the rest of the week.
MIK Coffee and Shop, also on 17th Avenue at 1019 17th Ave. SW #101, keeps late hours every day except Sunday and stocks crafts alongside beverages.
