Soul Sisters Café celebrates its grand opening on Saturday, Nov. 7, in Air Ranch Plaza at the corner of Milligan Drive and 48 Street East in northeast Okotoks.
The day starts with a ribbon-cutting with Mayor Tanya Thorn at 10 a.m. Live music follows at 4 p.m. The café is open from 8 a.m. To 9 p.m. That day. On weekdays it opens at 6 a.m.
Owner Linda Froise said creating a welcoming place matters as much as the coffee. "One thing that is really important for me is creating a space for community and connection," Froise said. "We've lost so many of our spaces for that."
Beyond café fare, Froise plans for the space to host local artists, artisans, writers and musicians, along with workshops and special events. She also plans a southwest-facing patio next year.
Froise had hoped to open last spring, but the retail development faced delays. The plaza was originally expected to open by summer 2024. "It's been a long process," she said.
