Calgary's most beloved café is expanding beyond the city limits. Alforno, the Italian-inspired spot that's become a staple for its laid-back vibes, handcrafted pastries, and freshly baked bread, is opening its first location outside Calgary this winter in Canmore.

The new storefront will sit at the corner of 8th and 8th in the heart of Canmore, a location that captures foot traffic from both locals and mountain visitors. It's a significant move for the Teatro Group–owned café, which launched in 2015 and has grown to eight locations across Calgary over the past decade, becoming known for how it channels Italian café culture in a North American setting.

"We can't wait to become part of the Canmore community and share our Italian-inspired coffee, artisan baking, and hospitality with both locals and visitors," Alforno said. The Canmore location will be the ninth Alforno outpost overall, bringing the café's signature approach — quality espresso, wood-fired-style baking, and an unhurried social atmosphere — to the mountain town.
