Thai Siam, one of Calgary's most popular Thai restaurants, is opening its second location near CF Chinook Centre on June 19.
Since opening in 2022 at Starr Distilling in the NE, the spot has built a devoted following for its Northern Thailand-inspired cuisine. Owners Tiago and Sawanya Sousa said the expansion came directly from customer demand.
"From day one, Thai Siam has been more than just a restaurant. It has been a community," the owners said. "This next chapter exists for one simple reason, our customers."
At the original location, Thai Siam has regularly had to decline reservation requests and turn away walk-in diners due to overwhelming demand. The new Southwest location should help ease that pressure.
Must-try dishes include the Pad Thai and Thai-style chicken skewers served with a rich, flavourful peanut sauce. The menu draws from Northern Thai culinary traditions, offering flavours that have kept locals coming back since the restaurant's debut.
The new location sits at 6130 1a Street SW, just south of Chinook. The original at Starr Distilling (4127 6th Street NE) remains open.
