Calgary is hosting the 2026 U17 Women's Canadian Fastpitch Championship from July 30, through August 4, with over 2,000 of Canada's top young softball athletes competing at Shouldice Athletic Park.

The tournament is expected to generate more than $2.3 million in local economic activity. Alberta's government is providing $34,000 in support through the Major Sport Events grant program, which assists organizations in planning and hosting national and international sporting events.

"Hosting national championships like this strengthens our communities, supports local businesses and reinforces Alberta's reputation as a premier destination for major sports events," said Andrew Boitchenko, Alberta's Minister of Tourism and Sport.

Alberta has hosted the U17 Women's Canadian Fastpitch Championship four times over the past 25 years. The province will continue its softball momentum, hosting the U19 Women's Championships from August 5 to 9 and the U15 Women's Championships from August 11 to 15 in 2027—both in Calgary.

The tournament brings teams from across the country to compete at a high level, offering young athletes the chance to develop their skills and pursue their goals in the sport. For Calgary residents, the championship provides a week of competitive fastpitch action and an opportunity to see some of the nation's emerging softball talent.
