University of Calgary to host 2027 U SPORTS Women's Soccer Championship at McMahon Stadium

The University of Calgary has been named host of the 2027 U SPORTS Women's Soccer Championship, set for November 11–14 at McMahon Stadium. It's the first time the national women's soccer championship has been held at UCalgary.
Ben Matchett, UCalgary's Director of Athletics, said the university is ready to deliver an outstanding event. "Together with our partners at Tourism Calgary, we are excited to bring the U SPORTS Women's Soccer Championship to Calgary. We look forward to showcasing some of Canada's best student-athletes in a professional setting at McMahon Stadium, with Calgary's renowned hospitality," Matchett said.
The Dinos have a storied history in U SPORTS women's soccer. They won their only national championship in 1998 with a 3–2 victory over host Victoria in the final. The program returned to the national championship game in 2019, finishing as silver medallists. This season, the Dinos are ranked fourth in the nation and remain undefeated through four games.
In 2025, the Dinos captured the Canada West Prairie Division title and closed the season with a conference bronze medal. Six players earned Canada West postseason honours, tying a program record.
Tourism Calgary's Carson Ackroyd said U SPORTS and the Dinos are important drivers of the visitor economy. "U SPORTS and the UCalgary Dinos are an important part of Calgary's year-round sports landscape and driver of our visitor economy, offering exceptional events for locals and visitors featuring some of Canada's top athletes. We can't wait to host the 2027 U SPORTS Women's Soccer Championship next November that will showcase our community's love for the game and inspire the next generation of soccer athletes in Calgary," Ackroyd said.
The championship is part of a busy U SPORTS calendar for Calgary. UCalgary is also hosting the 2026 U SPORTS Men's Basketball Final 8 at Jack Simpson Gym, the 2027 U SPORTS Swimming Championships, and co-hosting the 2027 U SPORTS/Curling Canada Championships. The 2027 U SPORTS Men's Soccer Championship will be hosted by the University of Alberta in Edmonton.
