Calgary is hosting the 2027 X Games in February, making the city the second stop of the inaugural MoonPay X Games League winter season.
The three-day ski and snowboard competition runs February 19 to 21 at WinSport Canada Olympic Park, with events running 5 to 11 p.m. nightly. Tickets start at $99. The X Fest will feature food, entertainment, and brand activations alongside the competition.
The MoonPay XGL is a team-based global league for action sports, with four co-ed clubs competing across a multi-stop format. The winter season includes ski and snowboard teams, while the summer includes skateboarding and BMX. Aspen, Colorado hosts the season opener in January, followed by Calgary in February and Ruka, Finland in April.
Local athletes are expected to compete. Brooke D'Hondt, a Calgary snowboarder who represented Canada at the Beijing 2022 Olympics and won Slush Magazine's World Quarterpipe Championship in May 2023, has appeared at X Games events in Aspen in 2020, 2021, and 2024. Noah Bowman, a Calgary skier, is competing in the skiing portion — Bowman has appeared at X Games Aspen from 2012 to 2015 and 2017 to 2023, earning one silver medal, one bronze medal, and several other top-10 finishes. Other Calgary-area athletes competing include Amy Fraser, Brendan Mackay, and Cody Matechuk.
