Calgary's first-ever combined concrete pump track and skatepark opens this Saturday in George Moss Park in the southeast community of Ogden, with a full day of free activities and lessons.

The Martin Family Pump Track and Skatepark is part of a larger project to refresh the park, which also includes new courts, gathering spaces, and upgrades to the existing baseball diamond. The project was made possible with support from the Parks Foundation Calgary, the City of Calgary, the Government of Alberta, and donors Greg and Joanne Martin.

The grand opening runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. From 10 a.m. to noon, New Line Skatepark will host Learn to Skate sessions for beginners, while Youth En Route will run Learn to Bike sessions. Youth En Route will also host a free Kids Bike Trade Up, where families can bring in bikes their children have outgrown and trade them for better-fitting alternatives. CP Kids and Families will offer an adapted bike riding session designed for children and families needing additional support.

At 12:15 p.m., a ribbon-cutting ceremony will officially mark the opening, featuring remarks from community partners. A 30-minute skate jam will follow, with local skateboarders performing live demonstrations.

Throughout the day, free snacks will be available from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (while supplies last). A raffle will run from 1:30 to 2 p.m., with winners drawn at the end of the event — you must be present to claim your prize.

The event is open to all ages and free to attend. Limited seating is available for the Learn to Skate, Learn to Bike, and adapted bike sessions — registration is required on Eventbrite. No registration is needed for the Skate Jam or raffle. Organizers recommend bringing your own water and snacks if you plan to stay for the full afternoon.
