Each year on her birthday, Lovepreet Deo takes on a marathon challenge to raise awareness about Cerebral Palsy (CP), a condition she lives with every day.

This year, as she turns 45, Deo will complete a half-marathon on a stationary bike at Genesis Place in Airdrie on Tuesday, June 10.

"This is my second time doing the marathon, the first time it was outdoors and it took me a couple hours to do," Deo said.

The City of Airdrie's Director of Community Services Brad Anderson will join Deo for the half-marathon, adding community support to a personal milestone.

Beyond raising awareness for CP, Deo is also aiming to raise money for cancer during the event. Her dual focus reflects the interconnected health challenges many families face.

Cerebral Palsy is a group of lifelong neurological disorders that affect a person's ability to move, maintain balance, and sustain posture. Deo's annual birthday challenge transforms personal experience into community education—a reminder that visible commitment to health and awareness can inspire others to engage with the causes that matter.

Her willingness to take on physical challenge and community visibility shows how personal resilience can become a platform for broader awareness.
