Renova Homes and Renovations is hosting the grand opening of its new walkout show home in Freestone, a townhome development in Cochrane's Riversong neighbourhood, on June 27. The celebration includes local businesses, prospective homebuyers, and adoptable dogs from the Cochrane and Area Humane Society.

Freestone launched in early 2023 with 71 townhomes across two floor plans—Layout A (end units) and Layout B (interior units). Both feature 1,286 square feet of living space with three bedrooms, 2½ bathrooms, and open-concept layouts.

The newly opened show home showcases Layout A, highlighting one of Freestone's most sought-after features: a walkout basement. Including the fully developed lower level, the show home offers 1,758 square feet of finished space across three levels, with four bedrooms and 3½ bathrooms.

"We really want to embrace the sense of community that makes Cochrane so special," said Justin Mauro, president of Renova Homes and Renovations.

Walkout homes overlook Glenbow Valley and feature full-width upper decks and concrete patios, creating indoor-outdoor living opportunities rare in townhome developments. Interior finishes include quartz countertops, luxury vinyl plank flooring, and nine-foot ceilings. Each home comes with a fully landscaped and fenced yard—a key feature for families and pet owners—plus two dedicated parking stalls in front.

Of Freestone's 71 homes, only 15 are walkout units. Demand has been strong; over 25 per cent of walkout inventory is already sold.

"Walkout townhomes, especially in Cochrane, remain limited, particularly those that offer features such as valley views, functional layouts and close proximity to everyday amenities," Mauro said. "Freestone fills an important gap in the market."

The development has earned industry recognition. At the 2024 BILD-CR Awards, Freestone's Layout B won Best Townhome or Villa up to $450,999, while Layout A was named a finalist in the $451,000 to $550,999 category.

Freestone is more than 75 per cent sold, reflecting strong demand for attainable homeownership in a community balancing urban convenience with outdoor living.
