Cochrane RCMP recovered 15 firearms and large quantities of ammunition after executing a search warrant at a residence in Crossfield, following a series of break-and-enters across the region.
The investigation began in early September after RCMP received reports of break-and-enters targeting private residences and storage lockers in southern Alberta. Firearms were stolen in multiple incidents. The Cochrane RCMP Crime Reduction Unit led the investigation, assisted by the RCMP Emergency Response Team and both the Airdrie RCMP General Investigation Section and Airdrie Rural RCMP.
Authorities seized the 15 firearms at the Crossfield residence, where stolen firearms from the break-and-enters were being stored. A number of the recovered guns are believed to have been stolen during the residential thefts, though the origin of all firearms remains under investigation.
The suspect was not present when the warrant was executed. No arrest has yet been made and the investigation remains ongoing. Police have not disclosed the suspect's identity or any potential charges.
