RCMP seize nearly $500K in drugs across Calgary and Canmore
A months-long investigation into drug trafficking between Calgary and Canmore has resulted in four arrests and the seizure of fentanyl, cocaine, and a prohibited firearm.
Cochrane RCMP have arrested four people and seized nearly half a million dollars in drugs and weapons following a months-long investigation into trafficking between Calgary and Canmore.
The investigation began in March 2026 when officers identified a man suspected of transporting wholesale-level drugs from Calgary into the Bow Valley. On March 13, police stopped a vehicle linked to the suspect and seized 1,097 grams of fentanyl.
On May 14, officers executed a search warrant at a Canmore home, finding 1.6 kilograms of fentanyl and cocaine along with 2,000 counterfeit Xanax tablets. Two Canmore residents, Mackenzie Harbar, 30, and Katie Ervin, 31, were charged. Harbar also faces breach of conditions charges.
That search led police to investigate further in Calgary. On May 27, officers executed two search warrants in the city, seizing 0.5 kilograms of fentanyl and cocaine, more than 1,100 synthetic-opioid tablets, and a semi-automatic rifle with prohibited magazines. Two Calgary residents, Aaron Cahoon, 30, and Jordan Nyiro, 31, were charged with drug trafficking. Nyiro also faces firearms charges.
In total, police seized 1,186 grams of fentanyl, 915 grams of cocaine, 2,895 counterfeit opioid pills, 7 grams of methamphetamine, and a semi-automatic rifle. Police estimate the street value at approximately $490,000.
The bust reflects ongoing RCMP focus on drug movement along the Calgary-Canmore corridor, a trafficking route that has drawn increased scrutiny in recent years.
